"Patential-Prescription for Success" Board Game
Foley & Lardner attorney Richard Warburg has created the board game Patential, which allows players to develop their own innovative products, guiding them from the idea stage to the marketplace.
In the game, players start as entrepreneurs and raise investment money from angel investors and venture capitalists. They then decide how to use that money to obtain patents, get FDA approval and bring the finished product to market. Patent concepts such as interferences, re-examinations and litigation are introduced to demonstrate the real-world challenges and opportunities of the pharmaceutical development industry.
The game's most appealing factor is the entertaining and educational spin it puts on the complex task of patenting an invention and bringing a pharmaceutical to market, said Warburg. The game portrays the real-life ups and downs of the pharmaceutical industry in a way that is easy to comprehend. The Patential game is for ages 12 and older and can be played by up to four players.
